Hawaii, United States of America

To make it to Hawaii from where I live we had to first fly 5 hours to Los Angeles, then another 6 hours to Maui, and then we had to take a small little plane to Oahu which is where we spent our time! When we first landed in Maui I was amazed. The airport had an open concept where basically the entire airport was open to the outside! Where there are normally windows in Maui there were none. The fresh air and the heat that went its way into the airport made it seem like we were anywhere else besides an airport. The first thing we did when we arrived in Maui was get some souvenirs. I got this delicious POG fudge which stands for passion fruit, orange, and guava. It was pretty sweet, but I'm glad I tried it! Then we got on our connecting flight to Oahu! On the airplane they passed out little juices and it was super good! We also were able to see all of the islands as we flew into Honolulu. The view from the plane was so pretty. That day when we arrived we were so tired from our long journey and we ended up just getting dinner and going to sleep.

During our stay, we spent a lot of time in the Disney resort near our hotel where they had lots of restaurants and beaches. We actually ended up eating dinner in that area almost every night. On our first full day in Oahu we went snorkeling with turtles in front of Diamond head! We booked this little tour and we ended up getting driven out into the middle of the ocean on this tiny boat. It was kinda scary, but kinda fun on the boat because it was super bumpy which made me feel a little nervous. Almost like I was about to fall off! When we arrived at our snorkeling destination we got our gear on and jumped in! The water was so cold and it hit me like a punch as it was not what I was expecting! But, I did end up getting used to it as I swam around! We saw several turtles while snorkeling and they were so huge and it was an amazing experience! When we got back onto the boat I was shivering, but in the best possible way. The people on the boat even gave me some delicious juice! It was so comforting basking in the sun with a nice refreshing juice as we made our way back to shore! When we arrived back at our car I realized that my shorts had a hole in them! So, off we went to buy me some new shorts! We ended up going to this mall where we had lunch and then going to a store where I bought some really cute and nice shorts! I wear them all the time now since they are such good material! They were a bit pricey, but definitely worth it! On our way back to our hotel we also drove to a shave ice place. Funny enough, in Hawaii they don’t call it shaved ice they call it shave ice which is so interesting. The flavors I got were really yummy and it was such a nice way to end our excursion of the day!

The next day we went to Waikiki beach and we went hiking! It was a pretty hard hike, but it was fun and there was a beautiful view of the beach from the top! We then went to the famous North Shore and visited the Banzai Pipeline! It was sadly a very calm day and we couldn’t see the iconic pipeline but it was still a super nice day out and we went swimming a little bit in the water! On our drive to get lunch we passed by this lady selling some lychee fruit so we stopped by and bought some. I have had lychee fruit a handful of times before and it was okay, but these were super juicy and sweet! I even munched on some before we went to lunch! There was this little area with a bunch of different food trucks and we got poke for the first time! Poke was so good and it was such a nice area to sit and enjoy the view of the beautiful Hawaiian beach! There was also a shave ice truck and I got some. It was really good! The next day we visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial. It was so interesting and there were so many museums and attractions that depicted what happened on December 7, 1941. There was also a submarine that we could walk in and explore and having never been in one I went in! I thought it was super interesting and cool to see how people lived in a submarine. It was super small and tight, though, and I have no idea how people could live like that. My trip to Hawaii was so fun and I absolutely loved my visit.
